A Community That Takes Care of Others Will Thrive.
People across Henderson County continue to feel the financial impact of COVID-19 and other challenges. For pet owners that can often mean choosing between feeding themselves, feeding their pet or paying the bills. A choice so many have to make, especially since the cost of feeding one dog can range from $250 to $700 a year.
Through an innovative partnership with leading organizations, we are making sure neighbors – and their pets – continue to feel supported.
What is Ride United Last Mile Delivery?
Ride United Last Mile Delivery (RULMD), an innovative United Way partnership with DoorDash, provides free deliveries of food and essential items to those in need in our community. Deliveries can include meals to seniors, baby supplies, school supplies or books, pet food and much more.
How Does the Program Help?
Ride United Last Mile Delivery helps address this critical challenges of accessibility to food and necessary items. The program provides a “last mile” home delivery program that brings food and essential supplies to help address hunger and other complex community challenges.People who need deliveries include seniors, people with health issues, neighbors who live in food deserts, as well as others who may be dealing with the economic impact of COVID-19.
How Does the Program Work?
This free delivery program is a coordinated effort between many of our partners. Henderson County United Way works with community partners to identify those who need food and other essential items. We collaborate with food pantries, grocery stores, restaurants, and schools to meet those needs. Henderson County United Way submits pick-up and drop-off information to DoorDash via a secure online system to schedule deliveries. DoorDash Dashers then pick up multiple packages and make contact-free deliveries to neighbors along an efficient route.
How Can You Help?
